I've been learning how to score. I brought a scoring pad and score along to replays of games on TV. It's a shame that Sky don't show more full games rather than just highlights.

Why aren't they running old test matches from Monday to Friday? And enjoy the scoring. It's a glorious thing, like a meditative experience. I'm extremely tempted to join you. I could never afford those great big beautiful hardback scoring books when I was young, I had to settle for the little paperback ones. It might be time to put an order in on Amazon...

Some absolute hero put the entire C4 boxset of the 2005 Ashes on Youtube, that was lovely. I've also enjoyed the Amazon Prime series 'The Test' which veers between heavily sanitised cheese to genuinely shocking moments of access. This year's Wisden is a thing of beauty and even if this lockdown lasts a year, I don't think I'll finish every page of it.

Favourite moment (hope this isn’t a spoiler) was when Langer kicks over a bin in the dressing room (I think when Lyon messes up the run at the end of the Headingley run chase) and then spends the next few minutes dutifully picking up all the litter and placing back in the bin! Also watched the England documentary ‘The Edge’ although I have to admit to actually enjoying the Australian one more.

That was brilliant! I was fascinated by Langer. He's sort of got that ageing surfer vibe that makes you think if he wasn't doing this, he'd be protesting against pollution on a beach somewhere, but at the same time he has eyes that suggest that he has killed and could easily kill again. If you get a chance, get Geoff Lemon's book 'Steve Smith's Men' for the full behind the scenes back story on the ball tampering in SA and the apparently toxic culture inside the Australian team. It's brilliant and I think it's only a couple of quid on Apple Books.

For anyone that didn't catch 'Tuffers and Vaughn' last night, I can assure you that it's well worth a listen. An 'Umpire' special featuring Ian Gould. Available on the BBC Cricket website.

Wisden working for me at the moment, a vintage year. The BBC sounds app TMS section has some good nostalgia ,I loved the Peter O'toole "view from the boundary". My son put me onto Cricket Captain 2019 which is a very playable management style game for the pc ,last season is panning out a lot better in the fantasy world !

It was a really good listen but was Disappointed they didn’t go into the sandpaper game in more detail. It needed Mark chapman to ask more questions

I can recommend Mark Church's garden cricket on Twitter. Completely bonkers but very funny.

Funny you should say that Gavin. I was about to mention the View from the Boundary archive and that I'm looking forward to the O'Toole episode in particular. Plus, I've not long finished Arlott, Swanton and the Soul of English Cricket by Stephen Fay and David Kynaston which is an excellent read.

Hi everyone, I am new on here and unfamiliar with this style of social media- I only post on Facebook as a rule, but cricket, particularly county cricket is not a popular subject in my circles. I have relied on the BBC to keep me abreast of developments, such as they are. I am interested in the possibility of some international cricket being played in Abu Dhabi, but as my real interest is in the county game, I lack enthusiasm. I did attempt a Middlesex cricket quiz the other day, but got an abysmally low mark.

Very interesting hearing what you are all doing to pass the time. Learning to score sounds very industrious- and useful, as well as sorting out cricket books. I gave most of mine to an old friend - a Surrey member- now deceased. I`d really like to read cricket novel: anyone got any suggestions? Apologies btw I have no idea how to comment directly on individual replies. In fact, because I am the sole member online, I might abandon this for the time being. I am never online at night.
