I would welcome members views and opinions on The Middlesexs board dictat to award no refunds on the 2020. The latest letter to the members states the majority of members support this. I therefore open this up to the membership to give your views.

I am happy for the Club to retain my fee towards their costs in maintaining the Club

I’m not entirely sure how the Board can be so confident that the majority of members support the decision not to refund membership fees. In theory I could support the decision if the Board was clear about its strategy for improving the management and playing staff for next season - and what the financial situation means for finding alternatives to being beholden to the powers at Lord’s for key Middlesex fixtures. My suspicion is that rather than focusing on these matters of substance, the Board has a much wider “box ticking” agenda which will waste resources and frustrate members who simply want to watch decent cricket in a decent setting.

I'm not sure how asking for a refund helps the club to be honest. There are undoubtedly questions to be asked about the playing staff but providing refunds to members seems likely to make those questions even harder to answer than they would otherwise be.

I have no problem with the club keeping my money, after all, we all want the club to survive right? The only thing I don't particularly like is the wording in all of the emails regarding loyalty. That implies that we were given a choice but, like everyone, I paid my money at the start of the year before there was any hint of anything wrong and then the club just kept this without asking any of us if this was OK. That's not really loyalty.
