I first went to Lords in 2000 to watch an Eng v Zim ODI match in the GrandStand. It turned out to be the last match that Alec Stewart played for England (He scored 97 and was caught off Heath Streak). I enjoyed that day so much I promised myself I would return. I eventually managed to get around to joining some years later and have been a continuous member since then.

Born within a ten-minute drive from Lords and a regular attendee since an 8-year-old it made economic sense to become a member when I did in 1970 and could afford the time off from work to watch at every opportunity. I took early retirement in 1976 and decided to for life membership when I turned forty, The best decision in terms of pleasure obtained and money saved I've ever made.65 years since I first passed through The Grace Gates I look forward to racking up a record-breaking length of membership.

I joined as a Country Member for the first time this season!! I am a Somerset fan (born in Bath) and now live in Southsea. It's not logistically sensible (certainly by public transport) to travel to Taunton regularly for cricket so I thought I'd join a county nearer to me as I enjoy being at games. I've been to Lords many times for matches during recent seasons so I thought I may as well join.
It's easier getting to either Lords or The Oval (again by public transport) than it is to the Ageus Bowl. And what better place to watch cricket then Lords whatever the occasion. The MCCC Country Membership represents excellent value for money, but sadly it looks like it's going to be Spring 2021 before I swipe my card for the first time.

First started watching Middlesex at the age of 8 in 1960. Around 1971 after I had been working for a couple of years I took out membership. Have lived in Glasgow for past 30 years, but still aim to see one whole championship game in early season and one or two one day matches during the season. Daughter has now been to a few one day matches and has taken out membership. Really disappointed that we wont have a season as such this year.

I’m from Ruislip and first went to Lord’s to support Middlesex in the 70s. In the outer suburbs there was real sense of Middlesex as ancient county - and I hope there still is. I’m not sure this sense of place is as profound in more central areas. Middlesex CCC is one of the few institutions that is keeping the flag flying for the county and over a thousand years of history it represents. I’ve been to Lord’s many times over the years but only recently became a member when I heard that the Club was seeking a new permanent ground as an alternative to Lord’s. If this to happen only another central London venue will work. Moving to a permanent venue in one of the corners of county will destroy the Club. I hope my membership can help influence decision making on this matter.

Because I felt an affinity to the County of my birth despite growing up in Glamorgan.
Probably through my father who was a sports journalist and used to bring me up every time he covered a game at Lord’s. He came from Muswell Hill and used to remember his childhood of watching all those great names from the past.
In particular he loved telling the stories of finding out where Dennis Compton had spent the night and getting him to the ground in order to put together his report for the Express.

My father was a Middlesex supporter and a cricket writer on a national newspaper. He took me along and despite living in Cardiff I also adopted the team of my birth county. I also have a soft spot for Glamorgan.

Hello, I am a new member. I have a member ID, so I guess I am a member but on "My Account" it says "YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL BE VALID ONCE YOUR PAYMENT HAS BEEN APPROVED". Note that my first monthly payment is yet to happen (scheduled for 1st August), so I am curious whether my membership will be valid after 1st payment. And also, how soon do I expect to get my membership card?

Like you, ankurp, I joined last year. All approved, membership card available on line/etc but wanting to know when club starts taking payment and when I am likely to receive a membership card in the post, as requested. Looking forward to the fixture list so I can plan visits.
I am a Country member as I live on the Isle of Wight. Nearest is Hampshire, but ground (The Rose Bowl) is on outskirts of Southampton on an industrial estate and it takes a couple of hours or so travelling. Sussez in Hove tkes the same time to get there but much more traditional ground. I can leave home in Ryde and be sitting in the pavillion at Lords in about the same time. Cricket, ground/etc better, so that's where I'll be headed fr a few games. I sometimes also go to Arundel where Susex occasionally play a County match. One of the most attractive grounds in England.
Hope a current member reads your post and mine and offers some answers, if possible.
Enjoy the season!
